Glyphs are spell and ability enhancements that can be created by Inscription.

These items were first seen in the Wrath of the Lich King beta, but glyphs up to a skill of 375 will be available in Patch 3.0.2.[1]

Glyph Interface

There are two kinds of glyphs:

  • Major, large improvements to skills
  • Minor, small improvements to skills or cosmetic changes

Individuals have a number of glyph slots, based on their level:

  • Level 1-14: None.
  • Level 15-29: 1 Major, 1 Minor.
  • Level 30-49: 2 Major, 1 Minor.
  • Level 50-69: 2 Major, 2 Minor.
  • Level 70-79: 2 Major, 3 Minor.
  • Level 80: 3 Major, 3 Minor.

To be able to install a glyph, major or minor, you will need to stand close to a Lexicon of Power, which can be found near any Inscription trainer.

Major glyphs

Major glyphs will be effective in combat, for example adding damage over time or stun to a physical attack.[2]

Examples:

Minor glyphs

Minor glyphs will give convenient or cosmetic improvements, removing the need for some spell reagents.[2] Minor glyphs are learned only through discovery, by casting Minor Inscription Research.
