Though Druids are a hybrid class, the differences between builds of the same specialization tend to be fairly minor because of the great amount of must-have talents embedded inside each tree.

For the purpose of classification within this article, builds which have less than 41 points in any one talent tree have been classified as hybrid. Otherwise, the ordering within each section is in descending number of points in the primary talent tree. Each build has its advantages and disadvantages, and there is no "best" build within each tree except in cases where you have a firm idea of what you want your Druid to do. For example, a tanking build that puts points into Thick Hide (Druid talent) is clearly superior to a build that dismisses the talent. Despite this, it is ultimately up to the individual decide which talent build is most suitable to their chosen play style.

When raiding, opting for a more traditional, non-hybrid raid build is likely to be a necessity as it will allow you to maximize your contribution to the raid, whether your role is DPS, tank, or healer.

Feral

Patch 3.0.2 Feral Tank Build

This spec takes under consideration the major changes in Talents, Game mechanics and all the extra armor removed from Leather Armor. From several Blue posts (Regarding warriors mostly) it is now clear , that threat will be generated mainly through damage and not through "High Threat" abilities as in the past. I did not bother to explain every single talent choice, since most of them should be clear. However I did explain several of them, mainly involving new talents.

Please Note that some of the tooltips here are not up to date, I will update them when the new ones are officially released.

Suggested spec for level 80 (0/57/14)

This section concerns content exclusive to Wrath of the Lich King.
Until the Wrath of the Lich King expansion is actually released, all talent info is subject to change, especially over level 70.

Ferocity 5/5
Reduces the cost of your Maul, Swipe, Claw, Rake and Mangle abilities by 5 Rage or Energy.
Thick Hide 3/3
Increases your Armor contribution from items by 10%. We already lost enough armor on items and Dire bear form, At least get that extra 10% back.
Savage Fury 2/2
Increases the damage caused by your Claw, Rake, Mangle (Cat), Mangle (Bear), and Maul abilities by 20%. Mangle (Bear) and Maul are the main attacks for single mob tanking (beside lacerate).
Feral Instinct 3/3
Increases the damage done by your Swipe (Bear) ability by 30% and reduces the chance enemies have to detect you while Prowling. This will help with "AoE" tanking.
Sharpened Claws 3/3
Increases your critical strike chance while in Bear, Dire Bear or Cat Form by 6%.
Survival Instincts 1/1
When activated, this ability temporarily grants you 30% of your maximum health for 20 sec while in Bear Form, Cat Form, or Dire Bear Form. After the effect expires, the health is lost.
Feral Swiftness 2/2
Increases your movement speed by 30% in Cat Form and increases your chance to dodge while in Cat Form, Bear Form and Dire Bear Form by 4%. Was taken because it grant us +4% dodge.
Primal Precision 0/2
DO NOT TAKE IT, this is a pure cat talent and you can make up for the expertise with gems. Also beta suggest we will get alot of expertise built in to our gear.
Primal Fury 2/2
Gives you a 100% chance to gain an additional 5 Rage anytime you get a critical strike while in Bear and Dire Bear Form and your critical strikes from Cat Form abilities that add combo points have a 100% chance to add an additional combo point. More Rage means you can use more abilities and generate more threat.
Predatory Strikes 3/3
Increases your melee attack power in Cat, Bear, Dire Bear and Moonkin Forms by 150% of your level and 20% of any attack power on your equipped weapon. This talent now also award +20% AP from the your equipped weapon.
Shredding Attacks 2/2
Reduces the energy cost of your Shred ability by 18 and the rage cost of your Lacerate ability by 2.
Feral Charge 1/1
Teaches Feral Charge (Bear) and Feral Charge (Cat). Feral Charge (Bear) - Causes you to charge an enemy, immobilizing and interrupting any spell being cast for 4 sec. This ability can be used in Bear Form and Dire Bear Form. 15 second cooldown. Feral Charge (Cat) - Causes you to leap behind an enemy, dazing them for 3 sec. 30 second cooldown.
Survival of the Fittest 3/3
Increases all attributes by 6% and reduces the chance you'll be critically hit by melee attacks by 6%. You are now crit immune !!!!
Heart of the Wild 5/5
Increases your Intellect by 20%. In addition, while in Bear or Dire Bear Form your Stamina is increased by 20% and while in Cat Form your attack power is increased by 10%.
Natural Reaction 3/3
Increases your dodge while in Bear Form or Dire Bear Form by 6%, and you regenerate 3 rage every time you dodge while in Bear Form or Dire Bear Form.
Leader of the Pack 1/1
While in Cat, Bear or Dire Bear Form, the Leader of the Pack increases ranged and melee critical chance of all party members within 45 yards by 5%. It is now a raid wide buff.
Improved Leader of the Pack 2/2
Your Leader of the Pack ability also causes affected targets to heal themselves for 4% of their total health when they critically hit with a melee or ranged attack. The healing effect cannot occur more than once every 6 sec. In addition, you gain 8% of your maximum mana when you benefit from this heal. Side Note : This talent is very good for pvp, since it will regenerate 8% of your mana every time you heal from a crit.
Infected Wounds 3/3
Your Shred, Maul, and Mangle attacks cause an Infected Wound in the target. The Infected Wound reduces the movement speed of the target by 25% and the attack speed by 10%. Stacks up to 2 times. Lasts 12 sec. This Talent is a combination of Thunder Clap and Hamstring. It is very good since it will reduce the attack speed of your target by 10% per application and can be stacked up to 2 times, which means a total decrease of 20% in mob attack speed & 50% decrease in movement speed (no more running around mobs). This ultimately means less incoming damage.
Protector of the Pack 3/3
Increases your attack power in Bear Form and Dire Bear Form by 6%, and for each friendly player in your party when you enter Bear Form or Dire Bear Form, damage you take is reduced while in Bear Form and Dire Bear Form by 3%. ultimately means -12% all incoming damage while in bear form, and YES it include magical damage. Note : to gain the full -12% effect you have to be in a full group (5 man)
Mangle 1/1
Mangle the target, inflicting damage and causing the target to take additional damage from bleed effects for 12 sec. This ability can be used in Cat Form or Dire Bear Form.
Improved Mangle 3/3
Reduces the cooldown of your Mangle (Bear) ability by 1.5 sec., and reduces the energy cost of your Mangle (Cat) ability by 6. Very good for threat generation.
Rend and Tear 5/5
Increases damage done by your Maul and Shred attacks on bleeding targets by 20%, and increases the critical strike chance of your Ferocious Bite ability on bleeding targets by 50%. Note : this talent is not a must, but considering the fact that Maul is a primary ability i would advise to invest 5 points in this talent. you can check out the new Tooltip for Maul here. In short terms this means you get +20% Damage on your target (keep in mind Lacerate is a bleed effect, and you should always have it on x5 stacks!!!), this talent is way better then Master Shapeshifter 2/2 which "only" give "Bear Form - Increases physical damage by 2%."
Berserk 1/1
When activated, this ability causes your Mangle (Bear) ability to hit up to 3 targets and have no cooldown, and reduces the energy cost of all your Cat Form abilities by 50%. Lasts 15 sec. You cannot use Tiger's Fury while Berserk is active.

Clears the effect of Fear and makes you immune to Fear for the duration. Spam Mangle on multiple with no cooldown, very good for threat generation.

This is it for the Feral tree, i have skipped Primal Tenacity and Predatory Instincts since they are more PVP oriented in my opinion.

Edit (October 15,2008)
Predatory Instincts is now officially NOT a tanking talent it only works for cat form, see here in patch notes : "Druid: The tooltip for Predatory Instincts is currently incorrect. This no longer works on Bear Form or Dire Bear Form and now reduces damage by 10/20/30%. Rank 2 is currently not reducing AoE damage properly. "

Furor 5/5
Gives you 100% chance to gain 10 Rage when you shapeshift into Bear and Dire Bear Form, and you keep up to 100 of your Energy when you shapeshift into Cat Form, and increases your total Intellect while in Moonkin form by 10%.
Naturalist 5/5
Reduces the cast time of your Healing Touch spell by 0.5 sec and increases the damage you deal with physical attacks in all forms by 10%. I took this talent because it increase physical damage by 10%, and also because it is the best choice to fill up those 5 points in order to reach 10 points in Restoration tree so you can reach Tier 3 talents.
Intensity 3/3
Allows 30% of your Mana regeneration to continue while casting and causes your Enrage ability to instantly generate 10 rage.
Omen of Clarity 1/1
Each of the Druid's damage, healing spells and auto attacks has a chance of causing the caster to enter a Clearcasting state. The Clearcasting state reduces the Mana, Rage or Energy cost of your next damage, healing spell or offensive ability by 100%.

Suggested specs for level 70

These specs are based upon the level 80 spec, but use 10 less points.

1. All in Feral minimum in Restoration
2. Naturalist at the expense of Rend and Tear - almost the same as the previous one
3. TBC tanking For The Win !!! - Skip the new talents in Feral tree in order to get more points into restoration tree

Patch 3.0.2 Feral DPS Build

1. All Cat Talents - Note
It is possible to replace Survival Instincts and Nurturing Instinct if you prefer other talents, those talents mainly increase survivability, which is usable, but not necessary to a dps build (Survival Instincts is a formidable pvp talent).

Restoration

Suggested Specs for Level 80

1. Restro w/ Moonglow 9/0/62

Suggested Specs for Level 70

1. Resto w/ Moonglow 8/0/53
2. Resto (all in) 0/0/61
